HOW SKIN AGES

The connective webbing of the dermis is responsible for the changes in appearance of aging the skin.

As a person grows older, an increasing percentage of the moisture in the tissue is lost; as this occurs, the fullness of the skin is literally drained away, leaving it thinner, drier, more easily folded and wrinkled. In addition with increasing age the connective tissue becomes more densely packed and begins to adhere to itself at an ever increasing rate, markedly reducing its elastic qualities. These signs of aging in the dermis may be more or less advanced in any individual regardless of their chronological age, due to hereditary factors, diet, disease, trauma, or physical and emotional stress. With this in mind it's good to take a look at our habits, as all of them will have a bearing on how fast we age no matter what our chronological age.
